Mtoto Africa is a 501 (c) 3 registered in Atlanta Georgia. In the US, there is an advisory board that assists with securing resources. In Kenya, there is a Board of Directors who give oversight to our financials and operations on the ground, and provides accountability to the organization’s founder and Executive Director, Fredrick Gituku.

Fredrick Gituku

Founder & Executive Director

Fredrick Gituku, was raised in a Kenyan village, much like the children he is supporting. After being supported by a family in the US, he completed his college education at Kennesaw State University. He currently works and lives in Atlanta with his wife Christy McClatchey Gituku and 3 children. Fredrick travels to Kenya twice a year to visit the programs on the ground.
US ADVISORY BOARD

Cathy Brink

Cathy has over 30 years of marketing and general management experience both in the United States and internationally. She worked at The Pillsbury Company as Director of Global Brand Development and Vice President of Marketing/GM. At the Coca-Cola Company, Cathy had responsibility for Latin America Marketing and was later the Vice President of Marketing for the Fountain Division. Cathy left Coke to become an Executive Vice President at the Wells Fargo Company. In 2003, she and a business partner founded Brink*Matheney Marketing Consulting and in 2016 she joined Chief Outsiders.


During her career, Cathy has worked on a wide variety of businesses in many different industries. She has used marketing insights including consumer segmentation to reposition mature businesses and introduce new ones. Internationally she was responsible for global positioning and created market entry strategies for South America and India. In addition she managed existing businesses in several markets including Europe, Africa, Mexico and Japan. Cathy developed and implemented new retail customer positioning and business model addressing the needs of over 6000 clients across channels including quick service restaurants, mass merchandisers and convenience stores.


Cathy studied for her MBA at the University of Minnesota where she received The Pillsbury Fellowship in Marketing. She holds a Diplome d'Etudes Linguistiques Francaises from the Sorbonne in Paris and a BA in French (with honors) from the University of Kansas. She is based in Atlanta.


R. Lee Burrows, Jr

Lee is the former Chief Executive Officer of Banks Street Partners. He has 39 years of experience advising financial institutions across the country. In 1999 Lee sold Banks Street Partners to Chicago-based Performance Trust Capital Partners where he serves as Vice Chairman of Investment Banking.


Lee received a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from Emory University Goizueta Business School.


Lee and his wife, Sunny Harvey Burrows, have been married for 34 years and they have three daughters and a son-in-law. The Burrows have lived in Atlanta since 1987. Both are native North Carolinians.


Anna Hunter

A Morehead Scholar, graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1996 with a B.S. in Business. Anna was UNC Varsity Cross Country Letter Winner, earned Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll distinction, played UNC Club Soccer, and was an active member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

She later earned a Masters of Education degree in 2006.


Anna founded Girls on the Run (GOTR) of Atlanta, a running and character development program for elementary and middle school girls, in the Spring of 2000. Prior to GOTR, Anna worked as Director of Annual Giving at Shackleton Schools, a non-profit, expedition-style high school in Boston, and in the Corporate Finance Department at The Robinson-Humphrey Company (now SunTrust Robinson Humphrey) in Atlanta. Anna has volunteered with a number of inner-city ministries and as a family, has served with Edify in Ethiopia and the Dominican Republic.


Anna helps facilitate the Lydia mentoring group through the NC Study Center and serves on the local Young Life committee. She and her husband, Chris, live in Chapel Hill with their children, Katie, Molly and Will.
